The Langtang Valley Trek is a popular short trek with many unique sights in the Himalayan region. The trail climbs up the Langtang Valley from just 1,470m in Syabrubesi to 3,870m in Kyanjin Gompa, next to the beautiful Langtang Khola, redwood and bamboo forests intermingle with pastures high, glaciers and mountains on the border of Tibet. Langtang Valley Trek is the most visited trekking route after Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal. Travelling in the Langtang area has been a popular and convenient destination for thousands of travellers and trekkers because of its mysterious snow-covered mountains and the beautiful culture of the Tamang tribe. People often know this route as the most peaceful desert trekking route in Nepal.

Overview

Langtang Valley is a beautiful small area of ​​snow-capped mountains in Langtang Park. Langtang National Park is the first Himalayan protected area in Nepal which protects 14 species of plants and 18 types of ecosystems. Beautiful rhododendron, oak, alder, maple, and pine are the most common trees in the valley. Langtang National Park is also home to rare and endangered animals. Himalayan black bear, musk deer, grey langur, snow leopard, wildebeest, Goral and the rare and most endangered red panda are protected in Langtang park. Tibetan snow and snow make the Langtang valley diverse in flora and fauna.

Itinerary

When you arrive in Kathmandu, you will be collected from the airport and transported to your hotel. If you arrive early in the day, you can explore the city or rest in your hotel.

From Kathmandu, we drive 7 to 8 hours to Syabru Besi and stay overnight in a teahouse.

The Langtang treks starts in Syabru.The trek passes through terraced fields, forests of oak, maple and finally bamboo. The forest is alive with wildlife, mainly birds and small animals. If you are lucky, you may see the occasional group of monkeys. After crossing the Langtang Khola, we start our ascent out of the Langtang Valley and soon reach the Lama Hotel.

After a little trekking, you will have a spectacular view of the Langtang Lirung(7246m). Then after a steep climb through the Langtang Gorge, the ascent eases, leading you towards the valley which widens out into an area of yak meadows and rhododendrons. We continue trekking and reach the Langtang valley trekking area, an area populated by descendants of Tibet.

To get to Kyangin Gompa, we have an easy walk through yak meadows. The village is spectacularly situated in a glacial amphitheatre dominated by high peaks. From here, we will ascend up Kyanjin Gompa to 3850 meters and have a wonderful view of Langtang Lirung and the foot of one of its major glaciers. At the cheese factory in Kyanjin Gompa, we will have an opportunity to sample the tasty local yak cheese.

We will retrace our steps to Ghoda Tabela.
